Summer Tips for Pets

While summer is the ideal time to enjoy with your pets, be it a summer vacation or just an outdoor stroll, it also means taking extra care of your pets in summer. It's necessary to prevent and protect your pet from the issues caused due to summer heat.

To prevent your pet from both of these, here are a few tips to make sure your pets have a fun and safe summer:

Clean water bowl available at all times: The summer heat can be very harsh for your pets and can cause dehydration, therefore it is necessary to have clean water available at all times. Keep their water bowls at home clean and filled at all times and when going outdoors like to the park make sure you carry sufficient water with a foldable bowl that is easy to carry.

Ticks and fleas: Summertime welcomes ticks and fleas which can be very harmful to your pets. It is necessary to check your pets for fleas and ticks regularly. There are several flea and tick prevention products available to help prevent parasites.

Taking care of their paws: The heat of the sun can affect your pet's paws too, their paws are sensitive and need extra care. To avoid that you can use paw butter to keep their paws from cracking or even put on boots every time they are taken for a walk

Keep your dog’s paws cool at all times: Limit the time you let your dog roam in the backyard and outdoors, especially on hot asphalt. Since the ground heats up quickly during the summertime, your dog’s body heat can rapidly rise, and sensitive paw pads can hurt your pet. You can make sure they wear shoes or boots to prevent their paws from the scorching summer heat.

Fresh Fruits: This pet care tips for dogs involves providing them with fruits containing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Many fruits have high water content, making them a refreshing and tasty treat that helps keep your pet hydrated during the summer. These fruits are:

  • Seedless watermelon
  • Blueberries
  • Apple
  • Peach
  • Mango
  • Cucumber
  • Carrot

Please note: All these items should be provided in moderate quantities only.

Keeping these points in mind for pets in hot weather will ensure a wonderful, safe and adventurous summer.
