How Petsy Is Handling COVID-19

Dear Pet Parents,

Petsy has its roots in an unwavering belief in the power of community and teams. The rapid spread of COVID-19 over the past few weeks is dramatically affecting people around the world. Given this, we wanted to communicate our commitment to keeping our team safe and how we can assist pet parents during this rapidly evolving situation.

First and foremost, we have implemented recommendations provided by Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) as follows:
  • Encouraging a flexible work-from-home policy to encourage social distancing to the extent possible.
  • Sanitization measures at the warehouse which include cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces.
  • Working closely with our vendors to minimize disruption.

We continue to monitor the situation in real time and commit to you that we will continue to put the community and our team first.

Living up to our commitment to our community

Our love for pets knows no boundaries, and we are dedicated to supporting pet parents in their parenting journey to the best of our ability. To live up to our commitment, we obtained relevant Government approvals to be able to deliver pet essentials around Mumbai. However, our interstate deliveries will resume once the lockdown restrictions are lifted and courier companies are operating.

In addition to the above, we've donated almost 200kg of dog and cat food to NGO's such as Save The Paws, World For All Animals Adoption and YODA to enable feeding of stray dogs and cats. We strive to continue doing this and working closely with both NGO's and feeders to source food on a sustainable basis for our stray furry friends.

COVID-19 and Pets

In accordance with the CDC and WHO

"While 2 dogs (Hong Kong) and 1 cat (Belgium) have been reported to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, infectious disease experts and multiple international and domestic human and animal health organizations agree there is no evidence at this point to indicate that pets spread COVID-19 to other animals, including people.

If you are not ill with COVID-19, you can interact with your pet as you normally would, including walking, feeding, and playing. You should continue to practice good hygiene during those interactions e.g.,

    • wash hands before and after interacting with your pet;
    • ensure your pet is kept well-groomed;
    • regularly clean your pet’s food and water bowls,
    • bedding material, and toys."

In light of the above, pets should not be abandoned in fear of COVID-19. Pets are family too, and we urge you all to spread awareness on the above to make sure whilst we deal with one pandemic, we don't have to worry about another crisis.

Be safe and stay at home.

As always, our love to all.
